Our small team at The Natural Turf Alliance, based in Sydney, are always on the alert for complaints about synthetic turf, be it an accident or the heat of them or the planning of one to replace a grass oval. We didn’t expect this mess from the synthetic oval at Chatswood High School.

It appears to be a mixture of the glue and grass heating up and sticking to the studded boots. Although we’ve never seen this type of issue before the concern is it’s another form of plastic mess.
Parents complained to the school, the council and the politicians, as usual the best form of complaint is post a photo of the issue on facebook. Complaints begain more than six months ago with several repairs conducted. The everyday school kids also suffer from the mess and have to regulary scrape the glue and plastic grass from their shoes.
We called the story into Channel 9 news and last night they aired the story

All synthetic turf degrades and leaves behind plastic pollution; that is the product. It needs to be replaced every 10-15 years and currently all the waste is either binned or incinerated.
As we say, better to go with Natural Turf
